Mrs. Campbell joined our TCS staff in 2018 and teaches Kindergarten. She has been an educator for over 10 years including several years as a home educator. She holds a degree in Education and Communication from UNCG.
Mrs. Campbell enjoys encouraging others in their faith, especially those who are in full-time ministry. She and her husband Eric love the outdoors and are enjoying raising their two children in North Carolina.
Mrs. Hannam joined our TCS staff in 2018 and teaches Kindergarten. She received a B.S. from Mansfield University where she holds a degree in Home Economics (Child Development & Nutrition). She also received an endorsement in Elementary Education through Liberty University.
As a lover of Classical Christian Education Mrs. Hannam has taught K-3rd grade in several different classical schools. When not teaching or spending time with her family, she enjoys horsing around, raising grass fed beef, collecting eggs, and working on her farm in Lynchburg.
Mrs. Anderson, who teaches 1st grade, has been an integral part of The Covenant School since the very beginning. She has over twenty years experience as a teacher (K, 1st and 3rd) and as a grammar school principal. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from UNCG and a certificate in Administration from ACSI.
Raised on the Carolina coast, she and her husband have lived in Greensboro for over thirty years and have three grown children. Lucie is passionate about classical education and is excited to be part of bringing the University-Model to the Triad.
Mrs. Earwood joined the TCS staff in 2019 and teaches 1st grade. She holds a B.S. from UNC-Greensboro in Elementary Education with a concentration in Spanish. She is also currently working towards a certification in Biblical Counseling from IBCD. Mrs. Earwood has taught in charter and public schools and has experience in 1st and 3rd grades.
A native of North Carolina, she and her husband Kyle have lived in Greensboro for eight years and have a daughter. Mrs. Earwood loves singing, spending time with her family, enjoying coffee or a meal with friends, and doing ministry alongside her husband. Mrs. Earwood is excited to be a part of the TCS family and to partner with parents to teach their children with a Christian worldview.
Mrs. Hodgin joined the TCS staff in 2017 and teaches 2nd grade. She has over twelve years of teaching experience, both in Ireland and in the US. She is married to Wayne and they have two young children.
Mrs. Hodgin enjoys music, reading and cooking. She is enthusiastic about classical education and the UMSI model.
Mrs. Scales joined the TCS staff in 2018 and teaches 3rd grade. She has been a TCS parent since the inaugural year and loves the classical approach to education. Mrs. Scales holds a BA degree in Elementary education from Greensboro College and has taught formally for more than 10 years.
She and her husband enjoy raising their three children in the beautiful city of Greensboro. Mrs. Scales’ passions include cooking and spending time with family.
Mrs. Webb joined the TCS staff in 2018 and teaches 4th grade. She brings over 13 years of teaching experience, ranging from preschool to 4th grade. Mrs. Webb is a North Carolina native and holds a BA in Elementary Education from UNC-Charlotte. She has taught in public and private schools, as well as homeschooling for a year.
She and her husband Tim have two children. Mrs. Webb is excited to partner with the parents of TCS and to build relationships with them while educating their children.
Mrs. Shoemaker (a.k.a Mrs. Shoe) joined the TCS staff in 2017 as a part time 5th grade math teacher. She rejoined our staff in 2019 as our 5th grade classroom teacher. She has taught for over 30 years in a variety of venues including Classical, Christian education and home education. Mrs. Shoemaker holds a BA in Developmental Psychology and an MA in theology with an emphasis in marriage and family counseling.
She and her husband of 40 years have two married sons and eight grandchildren who live in Greensboro and one married son who resides in Orlando. Mrs. Shoemaker enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and teaching.
6th and 7th Grade History
Mrs. Schinke joined the TCS staff in 2018 as a teacher of Humanities. She holds a degree in Christian Education from Taylor University. Mrs. Schinke is a gifted musician and is part of the worship team at Hope Chapel. She also had the opportunity to home school her own children, classically, and is excited to be part of God’s work at TCS.
Mrs. Schinke’s passions include teaching the Word of God, great conversations over great coffee, leading worship, and hiking with her family.
Spanish, Curriculum, and Administration
Mrs. Purath joined the TCS staff in 2016 and serves as our Curriculum Director and Spanish teacher. She has been teaching for almost twenty years in both public and private school. Mrs. Purath has taught Spanish, French, and English as a Second Language to ages ranging from preschool through high school. She also has home-schooled her children. Jenny is married to Kipp, a pastor in Greensboro and they have three children at TCS.
Jenny earned a BA in French from Wofford College and a Bible Certificate degree from the seminary at Columbia International University. She also spent several years as a missionary in West Africa. With foreign languages, Jenny uses a methodology that incorporates motion, song, drama, and spontaneous conversation. She also encourages students to look for ways God might use their knowledge of another language to reach out to others.
Sammie Jo McCluskey
6th and 7th Grade Science
Mrs. McCluskey joined the TCS staff in 2019 as our 6th and 7th grade science teacher. She holds a B.S. in Education from UNCG with a concentration in Science. She and her husband are Greensboro natives and love raising their four children here. She taught her children classically at home before becoming a TCS parent in 2016.
Mrs. McCluskey enjoys reading all kinds of books, running, and watching college basketball (Go Duke!). She is passionate about Classical Christian Education and can’t wait to partner with parents in pointing students toward their Creator.
6th and 7th Grade Literature and Composition
Mrs. Carmitchel joined TCS in 2019, teaching literature and composition for 6th and 7th grades. She holds a B.A. in English, with a minor in Communication Arts from Catawba College. She has taught in community colleges, homeschooled her own children, and served as the high school English teacher for a university-model school.
Mrs. Carmitchel recently moved to Lewisville, NC, where she enjoys life with her husband, Jason and her four teens. Her absolute favorite activity-- and pretty much her only real hobby--is reading. Stories are her passion, and she hopes to write her own books one day.
Pre-Algebra, Logic, and Admissions Assistant
Mrs. Lin joined the TCS staff in 2019, teaching math and Logic and assisting with admissions. Having served as an educator for over 20 years, her most recent assignment has been at home where she has homeschooled her own children classically for the past 9 years.
Mrs. Lin holds a B.A. in Art History from Hollins University and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from UNCG. Married to David, they have three teenage children and enjoy watching movies and spending time at the beach. Having launched her two older children into public high school, Mrs. Lin is excited to partner with the parents of TCS as they seek to classically educate their children.
Mrs. Rush joined the TCS staff in 2019 as a Spanish teacher after navigating the role of a TCS parent for three years. She graduated with a double major in Spanish and Sociology from Greensboro College and studied abroad in the Dominican Republic for a semester. After college she taught high school Spanish for several years.
Mrs. Rush and her husband Anthony reside in Greensboro with their four children. In addition to watching her children growing in their confidence and love of learning, Mrs. Rush’s hobbies include running, cooking, reading, hiking and enjoying nature.
Miss McLaughlin joined the TCS staff as our music teacher in 2019, and is excited to teach students about God’s gift of music. She received her BM in Music Education and Composition from Houghton College, and obtained her MM in Music Composition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before coming to TCS she taught general music, choir, and private piano, and she currently teaches music theory and technology at UNCG. In addition to her work as an educator, she has an active career as a composer. In her free time, Miss McLaughlin loves to read and bake, and has nearly perfected the art of sourdough bread. Mrs. Davis joined the TCS staff in 2018 and teaches Art. She brings over twelve years of teaching experience, both in Chile and in Greensboro. She has taught English, Spanish, Photography & Art to students K-12. Mrs. Davis holds a B.A. in Communication with a minor in Bible and TESOL from Lee University. She is passionate about teaching Art classically bringing over 10 years experience in Classical, Christian education with her.
She is the owner and lead teacher of Masterpiece Art Studios in Greensboro and enjoys traveling, hiking, painting and photography. She and husband, Samuel, have two small children.
Mrs. Kirkman joined the TCS staff in 2017 and serves as a Teacher Assistant. She holds a BA from UNCG and has served in Classical, Christian education for over 15 years. She loves supporting teachers, seeing children discover new truths and especially loves helping them in learning to read.
Mrs. Kirkman enjoys art, being outdoors, cooking, gardening and paddle boarding. She and her husband, Chris, have two adult daughters.
Mr. Greer joined the TCS staff as our Head of School in the summer of 2018. Having served as the Dialectic and Rhetoric Principal at a Classical and Christian school for over 17 years, Mr. Greer is very excited to be part of God’s work at The Covenant School.
Prior to his work at a similar classical school, Mr. Greer taught mathematics at the college level for seven years. He holds an undergraduate degree from James Madison in Information Systems and master’s degrees in Mathematics and Theology. He and his wife, Betsy, have lived in Greensboro since 1992 except for two years when they served as missionaries in Uganda. Their passions include classical education, baseball, ice-cream, and raising their five children.
Mrs. Soule joined the TCS staff in 2018 and serves as our Office Manager. Mrs. Soule brings 30+ years experience as an Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, Teacher Assistant and Educator, including individual work with children on their reading skills.
Mrs. Soule enjoys cooking, long walks, estate sales, and repurposing. She and her husband, Daniel, have two adult children and four Grand blessings.
