About The Covenant School

MISSION (What We’re Doing)

The mission of The Covenant School is to partner with parents in the education and spiritual formation of their children by providing a classical education taught from a Biblical worldview.

VISION (What we’re becoming)

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” - Deuteronomy 6:4-9

VALUES (How We Live This Out)

Jesus Centered

We seek to follow Jesus and love our neighbor.

Family Focused

We seek to help families spend more time together.

Relationally United

We seek to build unity through a spirit of grace and truth.

Classically Minded

We seek to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a love of learning.

STATEMENT OF FAITH (What We Believe)

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Our Story

In January 2015, several families began to meet together, discussing and praying about an alternative school option that could combine the best of homeschool and traditional school.  After much prayer and research, this group founded The Covenant School, the first University-Model School in Greensboro, NC. Our school opened in the Fall of 2015 serving students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Since this time, TCS has grown considerably and will continue adding one grade each year in order to become a Kindergarten through 12th grade classical, University-Model® school.

University-Model®

A University-Model® school combines the best attributes of traditional schooling with the best attributes of homeschooling and integrates them into one model.  The result is quality, cost-effective, college-preparatory education that gives parents more time with their children, providing parents the space to impart their own faith and values.

The University-Model® is a five-day academic program with students spending 2-3 days in the central classroom and 2-3 days in their satellite classroom at home. Both classrooms are under the supervision of the professional educator.

The Covenant School is a member of UMSI (University-Model® Schools International).

Classical Education

Classical Education is language-focused and depends on three stages of training the mind: the Grammar stage, the Dialectic (or Logic) stage, and the Rhetoric stage. To the classically educated mind, all knowledge is interrelated and students are equipped with tools for a lifetime of learning.

If we are what we love, when students graduate from TCS, we hope they will be young men and women who love: Jesus, their families, their neighbors, and learning.
